Snowmint's Capture --- Chapter 9
Everything turned slow motion. Snowmint felt the blood in her ears pulse.
Her eyes darted back and forth as bodies poured into the camp.
Claws, like brambles, ripped at the flesh of these bodies, blood splattering against the dust and leaves that flew up around the cats.
Sundeep and Berrysplatter were fighting two toms of equal size. Lushface found herself face-to-face with five hungry looking apprentices, ready for blood. Snowmint launched herself at the apprentices, slashing her claws at their faces, catching one in the nose and another in the eye. They scrammbled away and Lushface gratefully nodded, running over to help Fogstorm.
The shy black tom, Beetlewing, was helping Whitecoal up and leading her away from the battle. Snowmint just caught a glimsp of a long jagged scratch streching around her shoulder. The medicine cat's tail dropped as he noticed her apprentice, Shockpaw, was unmoving in a puddle of blood.
Sundeep and Berrysplatter ran passed Snowmint, enemy blood covering their brown coats. Snowmint saw her mother and Stagwing attacking the largest tom in Windclan. The albino queen closed her eyes, 'We need more cats' she thought.
Blisscloud suddenly appeared, followed by several Windclan queens. The she-cat's launched themselves at their male clan mates who had been abusing them for moons.
Snowmint's spirits soared. She ran over to Faintcoat and pounced on the toms that cornered him. She sliced at their bellies with such grace, swimming underneth them. Her white pelt turned maroon with blood. Faintcoat managed to kill a tom the was about to rip out Snowmint's throat.
Blisscloud squeezed out of the fray to Snowmint.
"The battle is ours." She said happily. "I saw Loststar, she lost a life, but I think she'll manage. Your Medicine cat is with her now." The pretty cat looked downwards, "Shockpaw and Fogstorm didn't make it."
Snowmint choaked a little. She wasn't used to the thought of death. She scanned the camp. Few cats were fighting now. Bodies were scattered about the camp but almost all of them were the tall skinny bodies of Windclan toms. The body of Fogstorm was among them, her marking just like Stormcry's, who Snowmint had never met.
The albino's eyes looked up at the moon, she wondered in Stormcry was watching over her now. Then she thought for a moment and remembered the starry cat that saved her only moments before the battle.
"Snowstorm. Thank you."
